Our Very own Telescope

Amateur Telescope Making is something which we, as a club, had never tried before. Since January 2013, some of our senior members have been trying very hard to push through the budget for starting a project on building a telescope. We have finally succeeded in doing so.

A Dobsonian Telescope

After 3 months of planning and hours of work in the Wielding and carpentry, Astro NITR has completed its major project for the year.

It has an aperture of 5 inches and focal length of 900 mm. We tested the telescope on 10th April. Sadly, the sky was not merciful and we didn't have too many objects to view. But, we could see the faint Jupiter and the Sirius. In the coming days, we shall post how we have constructed the telescope, and the details of the design.
